About US
The Booker Washington Institute Alumni Association of North America (BWINAANA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that supports the mission of the Booker Washington Institute, Kakata, Liberia. Founded in 1991 during the BWI sixty-second Founders' Day celebration in the Washington DC Metro area., BWINAANA has played an important part in the reopening and growth of the institution after the civil war in Liberia.
The Alumni Association provides funds for scholarships, supports the continuation and expansion of programs at BWI, and encourages community involvement through financial contributions and cooperative events or community and civic organizations.
The Association's activities and traditions help increase community awareness of the institution's programs, special events and specific needs. This awareness helps maintain and enhance BWI's current reputation as the oldest comprehensive vocational technical high school in the republic of Liberia.
